If there are "No new EPG slots" on Sky (which I find hard to believe) then here are some ideas to free up some slots.

1; On Sky 970 and Sky 998, both point to the same channel "Sky Intro".
So remove 970 to give us one more slot.

2; Channel 321 and 322 point to True Movies 1 and True Movies 2.
Most/all of the time these channels have no picture and break up.
So if they can't transmit them at the same power as all the other stations, then remove them from the EPG.

3; There is no proper EPG with the radio stations.
So have one new TV channel with a text service. Then have a text page to select the radio station.
This would work in the same way as the BBC iText selects one of it's news streams.
This would give us 75 more EPG slots, minus one slot for the new TV channel.

4; If ITV4 had a text service, then it could have one page to display ITV4+1 as a stream and a page listing the programs.

We can view ITV4+1 on Freesat (Not FSFS). But switching between Freesat and Sky to view all the different channels can be a pain.

Hi Mark A,

True Movies is broadcast on a frequency that is affected by wireless routers / av senders / dect telephones / baby monitors etc
cheap co-ax / twin micro coax / plastic cased satellite boxes dont help this situation.

The problem with the epg is that older sky boxes cant cope with more channels & the solution is for sky to swap out older boxes to bring everyone up to spec, my mobile phone company offer me a new updated phone each year to ensure i stay for another year. With all the profits that sky make each year I cant see why it would not be possible for sky as the platform gatekeeper footing the bill instead of restricting the market in this fashion.
Its crazy that viewers that pay for a premium service cant view a free channel such as itv4+1, after all every channel pays sky large amounts of money to appear on the epg so its not like they cant afford to sort it, more like they don't want to spend the money.

There is no point at all of having a ITV 1+ 1 channel, if for legal reasons they can't show the full programmes that had been shown 1 hour earlier on ITV 1.

ITV2+1, ITV3+1 and ITV4+1 all had some program gaps when they first started. But are OK now.
I expect they have to pay more money the more times they show a program, and bought some of them before they where 100% sure when the +1 channels where starting.
Jackpot Challenge could also be a bit confusing as they have already announced the answers on ITV1 before they ask the questions on ITV1+1.
I perfer ITV1+1 to ITVC4+1 but hope for both on the EPG one day.

This would mean switching
between Sky and Freesat Boxes, like I do now,
to see all available channels,
it is the same for the Men and Movies channel on Freesat Channel Number 143,
a bit of a hasssle I know,
but we have to do it

For recording the ITV4+ channel
and/or the Men and Movies channel,
would mean those of you who do not have both a Sky+/Sky HD Box and a Freesat+ Box,
means that it is necessary
to purchase/buy both, it just more expense,
as I do not think you can record from
the list of "Add Channels" in the Sky EPG

Strange but true.
Sky have moved some of its channels today. (1/02/2011)
MTV has moved to the entertainment section from the music section.
(I guess they don't play much music on the Music TV channel now)
So if you pay for the entertainment package but not the music package you can now view this channel.
MTV +1 has also moved to the entertainment section but is still encrypted for the Music package!
Strange.

Sorry this is posted in the wrong section. No MTV page found for this subscription channel on 'uk FREE tv' web site.

Mark A.: Yes, I make a point of not covering non-free services, as I have to keep some focus. I've updated all the channel details to include the new channels numbers for fSfS.

nathan williams: No, there are a limited number of channels on the EPG and ITV had to forego ITV4+1 when they provided ITV1+1. The channel is still there for Freesat users.

It's there but you just have to go to the other channels in the services menu. Seems silly that it can't be on the epg but at least it's available.
