Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Daventry (Northamptonshire, England) mast?
UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Hi
I receive very good Dab reception on12B and 10C, I believe these frequencies are broadcast from the Kingsthorpe transmitter? However, I am not getting such good reception for frequency 11A (SDL) is this transmitted from Daventry? Could I combine two aerials so I can receive from both transmitters if this is the case? Thank you

Steve:
Daventry is a main transmitter and has all four multiplexes - BBC National 12B, D1 - 11D , SDL - 11A & a Local mux on 10C.
It depends exactly on your location as to how well you receive signals, put your postcode into the box on this website Postcode checker - Digital Radio UK
If you are using a portable receiver try moving it and/or its aerial, even small changes can make a difference. Near windows with a view roughly in the direction of the transmitter are usually good places. Near large objects like fridges, freezers, anything with large areas of metal especially if between the radio and transmitter direction are likley to be problematic.
The "Kingsthorpe" transmitter is actually called "Northampton" and has the BBC National multiplex 12B and a Local multiplex 10C, it also has FM. There is a low power relay at Ecton, also at Towcester with a Local multiplex on 10C.
Further afield is Wellingborough which doesn't have SDL, but has 12B, 11D, 10C.
If you are using an external aerial, combining aerials is not advised. If you want to receive transmitters from different directions than a vertical dipole mounted as high as is reasonable with line-of-site to the desired transmitters would be best.

Very poor SDL national and D1 national in Northampton in NN4 area.
Fully extended aerial on 2 dab radios and car still poor no matter what.
Local northampton mux is the only strong mux in my area however I like classic FM and SDL national stations.
It should be reported and the signal made stronger in Northampton.

Reception will most likely vary across the NN4 area due to varying terrain. We can't advise further without a full postcode. The Daventry transmitter is roughly to the WNW of Northampton as I expect you know. See the post prior to yours for more information about transmitters in the general area.
Take note regarding the positions of radios and aerials.
Put your full postcode into the box at Postcode checker - Digital Radio UK and it should tell you what stations you should be able to get.
